Interesting results for Susan Boyle from our survey panel of music fans. As expected, she has scored very highly for her musical ability but very few fans said that they would either buy her records or pay to see her live.
This indicates that her career may be short-lived.
However, the continued publicity and exposure that will flow from the show will guarantee enough to buy several make-overs!

Matt Taylor is about to make his first album and would love to hear from you.

Matt has developed his music over a number of years. He took inspiration from the 1960s music scene, bands like Lovin’ Spoonful, The Beatles, The Mamas and Papas and Bob Dylan and with the influences of experimental chill-out musician John Frusciante, Matt created his own style.
Matt has never been recorded at a professional studio, or been approached by a record label. He is one musician who makes music because he loves it, and for no other reason.

If you have been in a band or worked as a solo artist and been lucky enough to have landed a recording contract, we’d love to hear from you. What was your experience, good or bad? Most contracts end in failure and we’re trying to find out why. 95% of all artists signed to the major labels fail.

So if you have been through the experience, we’d like to know what happened. Why do you think it failed – was it you or the record label? How did you get on with your A&R man? What did you think of the marketing support and distribution?

What could have been done better? And if you were offered a deal again, would you take it and what would you do differently?

GigaHitz, the online music development site has been adopted by The London College of Music, the music faculty of Thames valley University, as a music development tool for its students. The LCM, is Europe’s biggest music college with around 1,000 students and 27 studios. GigaHitz will provide the college with an open link to the public to get realtime feedback on the students latest studio productions.

GigaHitz was launched in 2008 and has connected hundreds of bands with thousands of fans. The site is open to anyone of any standard and is actively looking for artists and fans. Its great fun, absolutely free, offers free music downloads and a great cause.
